Tensioning bench
For tensioning and aligning saw blades
Correct tensioning and alignment of the saw blades are basic preconditions for the smooth functioning of a sawmill and perfect cutting results.
The running surfaces of the large cast wheels are curved with a small radius (crowning) on which the saw blades run. This radius is necessary to ensure that your saw blade does not slide off the cast wheel toward the rear at high feed speeds. To guarantee stability and prevent the blade sliding off, it needs to be rolled, tensioned and aligned. At SERRA, new blades are supplied ready to use on your crowning.
Description
Sooner or later, depending on the width of the saw blade, it needs to be re-rolled.

Product features
Rolling mill
The hardened rollers pull the entire saw blade through the mill under pressure. A tension line is set, and the material at this point becomes slightly thinner than before and is elongated.
The tension in the saw blade is increased by setting several such lines, evenly distributed. After each line, the inherent tension of the saw blade is measured using the straightedge and the special straightening rule. The pressure of the rollers is reset before each tension line and can be monitored via a dial gage.
Planer unit
The planer unit is positioned after the rolling mill. To restore planarity, a tension line is drawn without pressure from the rollers in the necessary direction (upward or downward) of the planer unit. This deforms the cross-section of the saw blade body without affecting the inherent tension of the saw blade.
Anvil
The ground anvil is recessed in the table. Dents in the saw blade can be knocked out on the anvil with a bumping hammer. Only then is the saw blade re-rolled.
Dents can arise if, during sawing, bark or pieces of wood get between the cast wheels and the saw blade and are drawn along. On SERRA sawmills, this area is screened off to prevent this happening.
